“First Emperor” Drum Autographed by Placido Domingo – for sale!

The Met Opera in New York is offering for sale a one-of-a-kind item: the drum used in the world premiere of “The First Emperor”, opera by Academy Award winner composer Tan Dun. Premiered in 2006 with Placido Domingo in the title role and a visually stunning production, this opera was a big box office success.

This magnificent wooden drum, made and used for that world premiere production, is signed by legendary tenor Plácido Domingo. A truly a one-of-a-kind collectible, this drum was selected by Tan Dun for its sound, shape, and size. It arrived from China plain-skinned, and was then hand-painted by the Met’s prop shop.
